Is the OCZ ModStream 520 Watts PSU a reliable PSU?

My system specs:
Asus P5W-DH
C2D E6600 stock
2GB Ram
150GB WD Raptor
2x DVD-RWs
nVidia 7900GTX stock
floppy/media card reader combo
misc fans and stuff

Do you think the OCZ ModStream is reliable for this setup? My current PSU is clicking a lot and random shutdowns too, which leads me to believe the PSU is going out. THanks.

I would go for the Corsair HX520 instead

gamefreakgbc you must realize that every thread where people say is such an such a reliable PSU, that brands such as Corsair and other will be named!

You specifically asked about the Modstream in 1 word-- YES!! It is a relaible PSU!!

Several sites give various modstream PSU good reviews!!

So the answer would be YES!!!

Are there others that will also do the job---sure!!
Corsair--Antec---Seasonic...etc etc etc

My OCZ 520A power supply (not the Modstream model) just failed - after years of faithful service. It failed in a 'surging' mode, taking out a recent WD2500KS hard drive with it.

There's the problem - you don't know how a PS will fail. Sometimes they fail gracefully with no voltage or low voltage on one of the busses, other times they fail in a manner that takes out a motherboard and/or components.

I had no warning indications - but you do!

If the PS is behaving strangely, I'd replace it ASAP.

It's a pretty good one. There are better ones available, but if you already have it, it will certainly run your stuff fine. I have had the same model in my other system for a few years now and it handled everything I threw at it with no problems, including an SLI setup at one point.
