Is the OCZ Cryo-Z Vaporware?

😀 Where is it? It seems as if OCZ has squashed even any discussion of it... I want my $300 phase change cooling system! LOL. Maybe they are going to wait long enough for everybody to forget that it was supposed to be $300 and then charge $700 LOL. Oh well, I guess it was just too good to be true! Does anybody know of anything else that I can get right now for $300 or less that is worth it? Is there anything that will substantially lower temps at overclocked speeds but that does not require ridiculous amounts of effort to install???

They choked and can't bring it to market at anywhere close to that price so they just quietly droped it and said nothing.

If you don't know what is going on, don't spread misinformation.

At this time it is not dropped, but we did run across some challenges that we need to overcome. We are working to meet those challenges and if they can be overcome, we will release it.

There has been no info, because we have no info to give. Specs haven't changed, target price hasn't changed, nothing has changed from the info that you have seen in the past, except the delay in bringing it to market.

Phase for highend water pricing would be something to see.
 
I hope they get it worked out, even if the price winds up being a little higher. Even if it were in the $400-500 range it would still be a nice alternative to whats currently available
 
$500 is ridiculous you could just buy a faster cpu LOL!

and no amount of money you spend is going to allow you to buy a stock conroe that is 5ghz either...

At this time?

The basic technology being over a century old, it's been in use and in production for the intended role years now so since you're not trying to do anything revolutionary. The only issues you're going to be running into are mass production, production costs and slashing the cost down to what you predicted without making it no more effective than watercooling. (Not a small challenge by any means)

I'd love to be proven wrong but i suspect it's just sitting there as design and cost estimates on a hard drive somewhere, from which it'll get dusted off and rechecked every now and again and put straight back into storage. That's not what i'd call a delay.

Its not miss information I'm spreading, its whats happend..... I'd be the first person in line to buy one of these if it can be brought to market as promised, but at this point its vaporware. I'm tired of great things at low prices being promised and then delayed to the point where its pointless or no longer relvant in the market. Vaporware is not a good thing!
 
I really wish OCZ would make an official statement concerning the Cryo-Z. I really hope it comes to market! I am so looking forward to it!
