Is the NY AG (still) investigating Trump?

I wonder if most people forgot, but the Mueller team spun off alot of smaller, seperate investigations into Trump and people related to him, to different state attorney generals, like NY AG Letitia James. Those investigation were not related to impeachable offenses but more in the realm of financial fraude ie. money laundering and all the other criminal practices the Trump family has most likely been involved with over the years, and strangely never has been prosecuted over so far.

Now, why don't we hear anything about those spun off investigations anymore? Are these still ongoing? Is Letitia James still investigation Trump and his family? When will we hear the results of those investigations? I kinda have the feeling nothing will ever come from those.
 
It is very likely imho opinion that once Trump leaves office he will be prosecuted within a year as he will no longer be a sitting President and according to Barr for some odd reason not subject to prosecution except by impeachment.
That is unless some idiot pardons him or something along those lines.

Indeed. As far as investigation and prosecutions go the NYAG is in no particular hurry to criminally try Trump while he's in office. In fact the time left to Trump works in their favor where the statute of limitations isn't crucial and I think there are actions that may be taken to freeze them.

I think the first thing will be to strip him of his company and fortune in civil courts and when the time is right go down the criminal route. Of course there are many waiting to sue him after that. His best bet is to fly to a non-extradition country, cash in everything he can and quit from there.

A federal pardon won't get him out of being charged in state court...

There is no possible way that someone as powerful and high profile as Trump gets arrested for any serious crime. With SS protection it would be impossible to suicide him before he could implicate all the other powerful people in the same type of criminal enterprises.

Yes that is what I remember hearing and that was in the back of my mind when I replied that Trump is likely to be charged within a year after leaving office.

He's a criminal. Trump's time in the Oval office has only reinforced that fact imho.

I think it should be used to make a "The Thinker" monument. Have Trump sitting on it eating fried chicken and wiping his ass with the Constitution.

Or maybe have his cell in the shape of a toilet with him at the bottom of it?

Then impeachment. It won't.
Followed by Ukraine. Don't hold your breath.

Maybe you don't know but Trump's cheating charity is gone, his business is headed to the toilet and criminal prosecution has to wait until Trump is out of office. NY is on it, and things are moving every day towards damning Trump. Maybe you should consider moving to a Trump-free nation?

I see trump being pardoned only he resigns and leaves pence at the helm, per nixon.

If he is removed after being impeached, and that is a big if, I think he would be too toxic to pardon even by republicans standards.

of course a federal pardon won't save him from NY.

I doubt there is any chance of him being removed from office through impeachment since Pence is tied to the Ukraine debacle as well, that would make Pelosi President and repubs won't let that happen under ANY circumstances.

There could be a deal that could allow Pence to resign first or a deal that Pence agrees not to pardon Trump and the Democrats won't go after him.

Why, despite all the evidence to the contrary, do people keep thinking that there is some point to low even for Republicans? If Trump is removed from office there is literally no chance that Pence will ever hold office again, some of that will rub off on him even if just by proxy. He will most definitely pardon everyone involved if only to earn some good will with powerful people, and the GOP will see him as a hero for it.

The simple answer is that the House will just agree to not draw up articles of impeachment against Pence. The Democratic House is more than willing to have a President Pence for the few months he will have left before the next election where he will certainly lose, if he even gets the nomination. The truth is Democrats know that if Trump is removed from office it will be a decade at least before the GOP recovers.
