yes. it sucks.

**EDIT** oh, at least you got the 256 meg version, thats why you can run all those games.

**EDIT 2** ::slaps forehead:: i forgot 256 RAM does jack sh!t on low end cards. sorry for the confusion.

Couple nitpicks:

1) it's a GF FX 5200, not a GF4 FX 5200 (there's no such thing), and
2) I doubt it's 256-bit anything.

I think your concept of speed (and possibly of quality) is lower than that of many members here. Have you played with faster cards? If not, be warned: once you do, that 5200 may not look as good.

But Holo 10x7 full detail with no problems with speed? Sorry, but no.

Yeah the card sucks, but if it works for you then who are we to complain? At least you got a BFG.

It absolutely does suck. You can't possible expect us to believe that it works better in your computer than it does in any other computer in the world. You simply have low expectations.

Turn on Specular Highlights or whatever it's called in Halo and THEN tell me you have no problems with speed. With that turned off, you don't get any DX9 effects... turn it on to see Pixel Shader 2.0 features and your FX5200 will choke on it's own balls.

Oh wow. Let's see some Far Cry benches. UT2004 even. Those are the two "killer" games out right now, so that's what you should care about the most. Halo is old news now, and I highly doubt you are breaking 30FPS at 1024x768. BTW, typically "full detail" means that you have every possible option turned on in the game, just for future reference.

B....S.... I had a 128 bit 5200, and it BARELY Ran HALO at 800 x 600 acceptabely, if youre that happy with a 5200 move up to the big league, and you'll be amazed ;)

you got ripped off...256mb of ram on a video card is just marketing, which sure fooled you. anything below a radeon 9800 pro wtih more then 128mb of ram is a scam.

Yeah uh no. I tried playing the Halo demo with an FX5200 and it just doesn't work. Way too slow. My FX5200 couldn't even play Fuh Quake!

My 9800 Pro won't even run Halo 1024x748 @ full detail with 16xAF smooth enough. What crack are you smoking here?

You think you're going to get an unbiased opinion about a low end vid card on this board? People here thinking spending $500 on a card is a good investment. Try going to a KKK board and asking about blacks....

Anyway.., I have a 32 meg 5200 on my LAPTOP...and guess what...it plays games fine. I play Q3 mostly, and I did have to set that to 800x600 to keep 125 fps reliably, with a bunch of peeps playin. I've played the Far Cry and Painkiller demos, both at 1024x726, and turn settings to low/med to get frames betwen 30 and 50. No AA/AF obviously. <shrug> I'm pretty happy with it. It's not a 6800 Ultra Extreme obviously, but for the $$$ it's not a bad card at all. Anyone who says that they can't play Quake on it is obviously deranged.

Put FuhQuake on your computer and try playing it. I guarantee your 5200 cannot play it. That game can even bring down a GF4 Ti4400.

Just because you game at over 30 fps, doesn't mean that the other guy will. I find 24 fps perfectly playable but anything lower than 20 is not. I've never seen a game run at 60 fps so I can't comment on how that compares to 24fps.

The card, works fine for basic gaming and video editing etc. You aren't going to be able to crank full AA and AF, on games obviouysly, but its an entry level card.

A geforce 3 can whip the FX5200, the card is a waste of money. If your gonna spend money, you might as well spend $30 or $40 extra for a decent like like a ti4200, radeon 9600 (128bit) or an FX5600
