Is the Nintendo DS more fun than Sony PSP

I'm thinking about getting a handheld console device and trying to decide between the DS and PSP. Which one do you guys have/prefer, and please leave the Sony bashing at the door.

Is the Mario DS anything like the original Super Mario? That's definitely one of the games I'm getting if I'm getting DS.

Look at the games that are out for each and figure it out. We don't know what games you like. Gamespot has a nice feature that lets you view the top rated games for each system. That's a good start.

PSP

DS

My favorites on the DS:
Mario Kart DS
New Super Mario Bros
Advance Wars: Dual Strike

Don't forget the DS plays GBA games:
GBA

My favorites on GBA:
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Mario World
Advance Wars
Fire Emblem

The games might be better on a PSP, but doesn't the ability to play videos count for a lot on a PSP?

And can a PSP fit reasonably in your pocket?

I ended up getting a DS Lite...loving it.
Edit: got it with Brain Age and New Super Marios. Any other good games to suggest?

mario kart ds
mario and luigi
zelda
final fantasy 1,2,3,4,5,6 (awesome how they are all on DS and gameboy)

DS Lite has more interactive and overall better games. PSP has more "grownup" games, but that doesn't mean that the DS can't be enjoyed by "grownups" too.

I like both. 🙂

But if you're intent on wanting to play SMB, then get the DS. It does play like the original..just better.

I have a DS and love it. keep thinking of trying homebrew but not much out i want.

will snag a PSP when they are around $150

PSP... no killer apps, long load time, weak battery life, dead pixel issues (may be not so often anymore, but still).

Really, I don't think PSP has anything exclusive about it. There IS a homebrew scene on the DS Lite. There is video capability (via modding... which is very easy thanks to new DS Lite cartridges that simply insert flush into the sytem, and able to connect to your PC seemlessly).

Link?

That sounds pretty interesting IMO.

Can you add a memory card to the DS?

All I can say is I love my PSP for the games, movies, graphics, and what else it does. My son has a DS and for me, being an adult, the PSP is more my speed then his ds will ever be. I know there is more games for the DS but I love the PS2 like graphics the PSP dishes out and the gameplay of the games I have for it.

Definitely get Final Fantasy III, it's an awesome game. You'll probably want to look into getting Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin as well.

I got my PSP over a year ago and it has more useful features and a nicer screen than the DS but the game selection is still weak.
