is the nexus one worth it, or should I wait for the nexus 2

So I'm definitely ready to ditch my blackberry 9700 for an android phone. I have to stay with AT&T so the nexus one is really my only option.

I just have 2 reasons why I'm not buying the N1 right away. Bugs with the Nexus 1 and rumors of the nexus 2 coming out soon.

I've heard that there's problems with reception with the N1 that may or may not be fixed with a software update. Something along the lines of service dropping when you put your hand on the phone. I know your always better off buying 2nd gen phones, so is the N1 an exception?

I've also heard the nexus 2 could be coming out in the next few months, and it might have a physical keyboard. not only that but any other upgrades they might give it.

So am I better off just sticking it out with my bold2 until the N2 comes out, or should I just get the N1? And then if the N2 is that much better how much will the resale value drop on the N1, because ill probably wanna sell it for a physical keyboard?

--------

EDIT: I also heard motorola is making the nexus two. Should I be concerned about this?

Absolutely nothing confirmed on the Nexus Two. I would personally try to score a Nexus One for the best price you can now and maybe resell it once the Nexus Two starts getting some info leaked out.

Get one now. Any later and I'd wait for another phone. And also I think Google Experience phones are meh. Not very well optimized. You depend on the modding community to give you something. I prefer something that's a little better out of the box though. Example: HTC Desire vs Nexus One. Droid Incredible is a nice phone too. The more and more I think about the original Droid, it's just blah. The upside is it's completely wide open for modding and overclocking.

If it can be fixed, Google will fix it.

I have a love hate thing going with mine...

do you actually have multiple lines allowing you to use your hd2 / n1 simultaneously? or do you need to swap your sim back and forth? or are you pretty much sticking with the HD2 these days?

I'd probably have to pay the $529 because there's really not too many used ATT ones out there.

When you say you have to depend on the modding community, do you mean just to be able to use the sense interface? I thought that sense was basically just a theme that could be easily installed to the N1? I dont mind messing with my phone, so if a bit of tweaking is all i need to do to make it nicer, i don't mind.

Is there any rough date set for the N2? I mean, if i am going to do it, i might as well do it now and get as much out of the N1 as i can. If i go and buy it a month or 2 from now and then the N2 comes out im going to be kicking myself. I think if the newer one is coming out by june or july, i can probably hold off until then. Plus id really like a qwerty keyboard.

I primarily use the N1, use the HD2 to tether with ATM, and swap out the sim card to do so.

The main things keeping the n1 in my pocket is navigation, and the integration of Google services. Am hoping for a port of Andriod to the HD2 soon.

I tried to tether with my G1 the other day and was flagged, and shut down by tmobile

No shit? I know its not supported by T-Mobile, but I didn't think it was actually outlawed? They turned off your data connection? Or just throttled it back?

Somehow, they shut down the tethering, but it's still working on the XDA tethering installed on the HD2.

I got a message on the iPad that said something like "Internet sharing is not supported on this device, please call tmobile". I put the sim in my hd2, and it worked fine, using it now...

First I have seen or heard of tmobile doing that. :(

I'll have dsl tomorrow, was tethering since I'm moving this week.

N1 is an amazing device but it's not flawless, just like any device. It's definitely worth the money. The reception isn't the best, but I've had the phone since the beginning of February and to date I have not had one dropped call or been in a location where I didn't have complete ability to use the phone.

There hasn't been any information or announcement of a Nexus Two. Everything on the internet about it is extremely vague rumor without any credible source.

I generally have good reception, but between this phones mediocre RF sensitivity, poor antenna orientation in the handset, and TMobile's generally less robust signal, I do not have service in some areas.

Honestly, I would wait a bit, and find a different handset. Software/firmware upgrades will never overcome the antenna orientation issue or the poor tmobile signal...

I know some disagree with me, but I have a shit load of cell phones, am within an arm's reach of an HD2 (tethering with it now), an N1, and a G1. I have a BB somewhere and another HD2 somewhere (am moving and everything is flipping missing at the moment...)

Yea i think im just gonna wait this one out. Theres too many awesome android phones coming out to be stuck with one that is limited (especially for 530 bucks)

Once ATT gets one that is on par with the droid incredible, or htc evo, then im ready to sell my BB and get an android.

AT&T is rumored to get the Desire. I like the Desire. Evo/HD2 is a little too big. 3.7" is just fine.

Didn't know that, i think whenever this comes out im jumping all over it, or should i wait to see if i like the nexus better :hmm:

the desire and nexus are virtually identical, so any signal issues etc. may exist with the desire as well

same antenna though? I know the screen, snapdragon, camera etc are the same. But there are some differences (buttons, fm tuner, etc).

Anyone want to guess whats going to come out in the fall? That's usually when the new phones drop, right?

That's big paycheck time at work. I might pop for something new if it actually does something other than be 5% faster or whatever. Give me Hulu or Netflix and I'll be all over it.

Hulu and Netflix likely won't be device specific. They will probably just be apps released in the Android Market for all of the devices. Hulu will work without an app once Flash comes out.
