The battery life on the MX1000 really impressed me. I've left it off the charger for a few days at a time and I've only ever seen go down to 3/4 bars.

just thought of this, why not try to put a piece of paper on the other side of the glass.

Yes..the MX1000 uses a "laser", whatever that means, that is what allows it to work on glass. A regular optical mouse emits a light and reads that back to determine movement. In glass the signal doesn't bounce back.

The glass would have to be extremely thin, we're talking 3.5mm at the most.

The MX1000 is a laser mouse, not optical. And any laser mouse should work, Logitec just happens to make the best of them. At least IMO, also check out Razor mice, which are also great gaming mice and I know they have a laser model.

Yea, normal optical mice just use LED's. The laser mouse uses a laser. Big difference.

I perfer optical though, for one thing, you can open your mx510 (or whatever else) and replace the LED with whatever color you want. I plan on doing this to my mx510 because I bought the blue one, and want to put a blue LED in there.

mousepads cost like 1$

And who uses mousepads with an optical mouse unless they need wrist support?

part of the point of optical is to allow you to move across your whole desk without falling off the edge of the pad

Anoobis strikes again!

ive never not used a mousepad with an opticial mouse, and ive used them for at least 5 years, every person i personally know that has an opticial mouse used a pad, ever gamer i know uses a pad

a pad is infinitly smoother then the desk, and you also dont fvck the sh!t out of the top of your desk, more appliciable if your desk is made of wood as mine is

if your running out of mouse pad space up the sensitivity so you dont have to move the mouse a freeking mile to have it go across the screen

or you can get a huge mouse pad, Just like i Did, the sensitivity on mine is set so high that i move it like an inch and it covers about 3000 pixels, huge pad also acts like a arm pad

I use an ultra-low-friction mousepad laminate on polycarb. So smooth!

Uhh..I still use a mousepad with my optical mouse. Both at home and at work. I also have a mousepad in my laptop case.

A good friend of mine decided to get rid of the mouse pad when he got his new desk. It ended up destroying the top of his desk. His GF was pretty pissed becuase it was a past Christmas present. Not even a year old.

It's more like dxkjnoobis (?) strikes again. I too use a mousepad. Granted it's the 7.5"x11" optical mousepad by Xtrac, I still use one.

I use a mouse pad because my mouse doesn't track well on it. I couldn't care less if it got scratched.

I just tried using my MX1000 on the window next to my desk and it didn't work...
It also doesn't work on the tv screen.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that it will work on glass. Maybe frosted glass or something.
