is the motherboard doing bottleneck to the gpu

hi all, i want to know if my previous motherboard or cpu version doing bottleneck to the gtx 1080 gpu because i have almost the same performance that i had with my previous 1070 graphics card, that's why I suspect of the bottleneck....
my system specification
i7 4790k 4.5ghz OC
asus strix gtx 1080 A8G
Gskill sniper 2400mhz ddr3
Z97a motherboard(Especially I suspect of this because bandwidth)
i hope your answers regards

Nope it probably isn't your motherboard. There could be a few different reasons. What games are you playing? What performance are you getting?

And what monitor are you using? Maybe you just can't see the extra performance.

I play in 1440p resolution, w7 64 bits. the problems are in some games, but because the settings are too high, or maybe the game is not well optimized. I like play at maxed out, because i think gtx 1080 gpu could handle these at 60 fps but maybe gpu can't...games example, batman arkham knight, quantum break, etc

Maybe turn down or off some of the graphics setting? Not all settings improve the looks, and some of them only reduce performance.

You haven't posted anything substantial, which I suspect is your problem. You are making up things with no actual evidence.

Do some gameplay tests with fraps and see what frames you get with the 1070 vs the 1080.

The 1080 is pretty much all tests is about 25% faster than the 1070.

i test with fraps always, and yes, is true only i have my own experience like evidence, for example quantum break with the 1070 max setting i had 60 fps at times with drops at 30,40, etc...when i test with 1080 gpu i had same performance,i believe I was going to keep 60 fps at least, without fps drops and this did not happen. obviously i use vsync on to syncr with the monitor refresh...It is more certain that the game is poorly optimized, thanks all for your answers
