Is the marked wire positive or negative?

I have an AC adapter I'm busticating and I though that the marked is usually positive...

The positive has a white stripe or raised stripe along it's wire. It's DC now

also, you can use the 12v line from your computer or you can get a dedicated 12v ac adapter from radioshack for i assume less than a switchable one.

Also, most rechargable 9.6v tools use a 12v DC adaper. (may be 14 depending on tool maker) so you may be able to get one cheaper. all depends on cost.

it should tell you in the instructions that came with the ac-dc converter which wire is positive.

i bought some new speaker cable at home depot (shoulda got it at parts express... half the price) and the stuff didn't have a stripe. only a barely visible bit of type on it that said the maker and gauge.
