is the latest update for old windows ipods compatible with aac?

well here's one site:
aac for "ipod 2.0"


What do they mean by "ipod 2.0"?... is that generation 2? (the ones that have just been replaced... same design as generation 1) or generation 3 (the latest ones...)

Firmware version 2.0 is what the new 15 and 30 gig iPod versions ship with. The older iPods (5, 10, and 20 gig versions) can only update to Firmware version 1.3. And yes, the new iPods (15 & 30 gig) support AAC and MP3

1.3 is only for the mac versions though right?

Correct. It looks like the PC iPod is MP3 for right now. Maybe Apple is waiting until iTunes 4 ships for Windows to give "winPods" AAC ability.
