is the GW FOP32-1 a smart fan?

I thought the motherboard read the RPMs...

As far as I can tell the FOP38 had RPM readings on my MSI K7T PRO2...

Pretty sure FOP32 does too...

Yes, they do but I don't wanna plug my 7000rpm fan into my motherboard so I gave up that accessory so I dont' short it out.

thats cool, was just wondering. I have read about the FOP38 needing to be plugged into a molex connector instead of the onboard fan header for fear of drawing too much power. does the same hold true for the FOP32-1? Got big decisions to be made on my next system.. looking for some reviews of the MSI K7T PRO2a board.. Right now im leaning in favor of the ABIT KT7-Raid..
but im hearing rumours about a "Turbo" board from MSI that sounds promising...

It depends on the MB.... My Asus A7V supports like 4.4W though the MB connectors so my FOP38 works fine plugged into my MB... read the manual it will tell you how W it supports for a fan.

Hmm i think i shorted out one of my fan connectors on my Abit Bx6 rev2 mobo when using the FOP 32. Hmm i might pick up an adapter from 3 pin to molex.

usually a powerful fan will burn out the fan header on mobo

My FOP-32 works on my KT-7 RAID and reads off RPM no problem.
