I am builging my first computer and i cannot decide on what video card to buy. I was going to get a gf3 but was wondering if it would be a good buy since the gf3 pro and ultra are gonna come out in the near future. Are there any other cards that you would recomend that are cheaper so that i could upgrade when the gf3 ultra came out.

Spend 50 bucks on an GF MX, and (hopefully)within a few months the GF3 PRO and ULTRA(and perhaps MX) will be coming out, and ill bet that regular GF3's will be in the 175 to 200 dollar range.

Or, if you are going to wait long enough for those to come down in price, pick yourself up a KRY0 II or GF GTS card. Either will serve you long enough until the GF3's are more resonable.

Unless Ati does some very radical price drops on their new chips I would not expect big price drops on the GF3. Proabably be down to $200 six months from now. If you buy it now most new games coming out over the next year or more should run great on it. And paying $299 now is not much different than paying $100 for a cheaper card now and $200 for GF3 later. At least thats why I bought my GF3. I recommend the Gainward Cardexpert for features and price if you go that route.
