is the firewire port on a 8500dv powered?

i just got an ipod and i was useing the firewire port on my aiw but it's not rechargeing? i was in the middle of moveing a bunch of files over and the thing ran out of power. i have the firewire usb 2.0 cable too so i used the the firewire cable to run to the outlet charger and pluged the usb into my computer and thats working but it's slow as hell since i don't have usb 2.0.
 
I think the manual says it is (it'll be a cold day in heck when I dig for it again) only if you've connected the floppy power connecter to the card. Otherwise, it'll act as an unpowered firewire port.
 
ahh you know i don't remember pluggin that in last time. i'll crack the case and see what i got. thanks
