Is the fall of Apple slowly happening?

With Android's inevitable rise (and impressive gains in market share) and now a patent dispute with HTC suing them, could this be the beginning of a unified fight against their market domination? HP buying Palm also means that a major player will have a huge patent portfolio to flaunt around whenever they want...Google prepping a new tablet... I'm sure the new iPhone will underwhelm compared to the HTC Incredible/EVO... Hmm.. Doesn't look good to me.

no, there's too many non-technical people that need to feel smug about something

Troll somewhere else.
Like another forum.

I don't really think I'm trolling at all.

Standard disclaimer - had a 3g iPhone, have an iMac and macbook, and really think the iPad is purty. I just view Apple as a selfish company that's not interested in innovation, but releasing minor upgrades as fresh new products.

I bought 5800 Xpress music which sells for less than half the price the apple sells in my country.. And it pretty much rocks, 3 MP camera, front camera, bluetooth, wifi,3g and apps rock too.. If I have to ditch this baby, I will surely go for a android !! IMO APPLE SUCKED RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING, became neutral after iphone, started sucking after android, now the biggest looser with release of ipad.

IMO, iphone-apps = NULL. and apps are not that hard to accomplish

no it isn't.
This has been explained hundreds of times.
Apple is a brand and has a different philosophy. Someone will always love apple, someone will always hate it.

I have an Android phone and there's not really any doubt in my mind iPhone is superior.

There's a few things Android does better, much better, but that doesn't make it a superior OS.

:D :D :D

The iPhone has 3x that of Android with one device on one carrier. If the iPhone goes to Verizon, it's over. Android is just a Spader-man clone of the iPhone :)

Even with how far the Android phones have come, they still can't touch the iPhone. The touch screen on other phones just can't come close to the iPhone.

Think about Apple what you will, I will probably agree with most/all of it - however, the iPhone is a killer device. Nothing comes close to it yet, and the potential of the new version getting released (what I assume to be this summer) they might stay ahead for at least another year.

The iPhone was a game changer, for sure. But now, with google providing the OS saving tons of R&D, companies like HTC, Moto, Samsung have a huge opportunity to catch up. 1 year, sure. But what about in 5 years?

I'll just never understand comments like this. Have you owned an Android phone and an iPhone to be able to make that kind of statement?

Using one in a store or your friends doesn't count. I'm talking about daily use of both devices.

I guess I see this as Macintosh vs Windows PC all over again - one business model just works better (and choice is better for the consumer). Sure, they will have a niche, but will they be the dominant force for much longer?

so so so damn true. there's a couple apple-heads here @ the office who knew nothing of computers or tech in the slightest, then when they bought their apple PCs, ipods, ipads, etc etc, they began acting like the masters of the tech universe. so annoying.

You have to understand that its a philosophy, not a product. People want to belong to something and Apple gives them that.

Because it's popular. There will always be people who like what's popular. But MC Hammer will be the first to tell you that what's popular now will not always be popular.

So what about us that DO know about tech, never really liked Apple products, and still have an iphone because functionality is far better then the competition?

I have the "latest and greatest" Android phone and OS (Incredible and 2.1) and it's behind the iPhone in nearly every way (hardware, apps, ease of use). Most importantly it's missing the overall polish people like about the iPhone. The Android UI looks like a skin for a Linux distro some college kid in Poland put together.
