Is the fabled 7850 Power Edition worth the wait?

I've been considering a 7850 for a long time, specifically the MSI TF III, which seems to overclock brilliantly. I realize there's limited information on the recently announced "Power Edition", but is it really worth the wait?

Given a 1200 core clock is easily obtained with current offerings, is there really any point in holding off? How much better can the "Power Edition" be?
It might provide improved voltage controls for experienced OC'ers, but if all you're looking for is a standard 1200/5500, there's hardly any benefit in waiting, while probably having to pay a premium, right?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

I have the MSI with the TF III. Very pleased with it. Not sure the Power Edition really can bring enough extra to justify the wait.

A guy at overclockers.uk just got 1275mhz out of his 7850. The Asus cards seem to consistently be overclocking the best. I don't think you need to wait for the MSI.

I was thinking of waiting for that. Then figured they gonna charge probably the most for that version, kind of like xfx dd black edition. Also OC is not guaranteed. Forget waiting.

Look at the HAWK 7870 with extra power phases.

Essentially what we can expect from a 7850 with extra phases.
1300 stable should be the minimum aim.

Both of those cards would be worth the wait.

Problem is... none of them have a channel release date -_-

Soon Grasshopper. :D

The longer they wait the more there is for a chance of a price reduction. It's to their benefit not to wait too long.

I'm in a GPU buying mood here - i had settled for asus, but with the impending GTX 670 i cancelled and decided to play ball til 10th, 4 days from now, see what happens.

I doubt itll be within my range once EU Rape GPU Buyers Tax is applied to it's price, and the scandinavian "happy goodlife consumer" tax is added on top.

So hawk or power 7800 we're my dream cards...except i can't bloody get em -_-
