Is the Epson Transparency Adapter Setup to Handle the Old Fashioned 2"x2" Slides???

Specifically, the Epson Transparency Adapter #B813172. Anybody know? I am referring the slides that were popular in the 1950s and 1960s (approximately 2.25" x 2.25" including the cardboard holders they came in).

Also, can anybody tell me what type of quality to expect in the output when scanning in these old slides.

I'm not sure if it's the same adapter but I have the Epson 1640 SU Photo scanner and it comes with a transparency adapter that works with 6x6 cm medium format film. Quality is mediocre, as expected, but to get something better is going to mean a dedicated scanner for this and that's in the 4 digits US bux.

I've done a few 35 mm too and the quality is poor. I use a $500 dedicated scanner for 35 mm transparencies.
