Is the DFI Ultra-D unstable?

I've seen huge numbers of posts all over the net about problems with this board - power, cold boot problem, non-bootable RAM that works fine in other boards...

Is this all due to incorrect settings (as the board is extremely configurable) or are there real problems? Am I more likely to run into these issues with any particular graphics card or other component?

I am running the board right now with no problems, my hardware is in my signature below.

I have read that DFI boards do not like Corsair, and Kingston ram, more so Kingston tho. Check out the DFI thread at the top of this page, as well as dfistreet for more info as to compatibilities.

Seems to be a very stable board, well for me so far anyhow.

now i had a ASRock before this and it wasn't stable

before that i had a chaintech and it wasn't bad for 80 bucks.. i would them again.

Bios is the best in the industry IMHO. Yes, it's complicated and even default settings will sometimes make certain component combinations not even post.

people buy this board and then use junk psu's and memory and such then wonder why it won't perform to amazing limits...

a rational person wouldn't expect a ferarri to give it's best if u use regular gas and kumho tires, same with this board...

After a little over 1 year running this board, I LOVE IT!

With good OCZ RAM, a good PSU & a good ATI gpu, my OC'd rig is rock solid (as validated by 24 hr Prime95 stress test).

But I'd be wary of attempting the "expert" version, that's just me.

I'll definitely buy anotehr DFI when AM2 matures a bit.

Yeah, DFI definately make stable enough motherboards, its the users who choose components that dont go with it, or setup the BIOS wrong that screw it up.

as for the expert, one day Ill let you guys know how it goes. its still sitting in my room waiting.

i know for a fact that dfi boards aren't compatible with value ram and not compatible with seasonic psus. corsair valueram and ocz valueram = junk??? seasonic psu = junk??? dont think so, everyone else not on dfi mb uses it fine. why do you think theres a whole website just to help users with problems with dfi motherboards (dfi-street.com) and they dont even help that much,theres only like 1-2 mods that attempt to answer most questions and if they dont know the answer they'll ignor you. used mine for 3 months at stock speeds and stock voltages. NOT stable with memtest in bios and windows based memtest, prime95 and superPI, all gave errors.

i'm running corsair valuram right now in my board... the bios defaults don't work, but that's the way it is on a lot of boards when you use dividers and such...

Value anything doesn't cut it, on a fine thoroughbred board like this you've gotta use the good stuff. THis board is intended for overclockers. For RAM, even The OCZ sales reps who help on several web boards including dfi-street.com and other boards say don't use value ram on these. You've gotta spend the extra $50 to buy the good RAM.

I have two of these boards and both have been almost flawless (the only real thing I don't like is the chipset/fan location). From what I've seen, the newer AD0 and AE0 revisions seem to have better memory compatibility and are less prone to problems than the older ones were.

One of my systems uses that memory too, and in fact I didn't need to change a single memory setting. It worked fine right away at every divider.
