because the version i have sure is. it won't sync properly, it won't close properly, it can't do anything else while sync'ing. its outlook 2000 (version 9.00 :Q how did they get through 9 versions? the program isnt' that old!)

I like a lot of the improvements they made with Outlook 2003. It seems to be easier to use and easier to read. Of course, it is still bloated, and takes up even more resources than Outlook XP or 2000 ever did.

Because that version number comes from the version of Office.

i'm pretty sure office hasn't gotten that many versions on windows either. i think the first version of word for windows was 3.0. though it had been on the mac for a long time before that, and was on a higher version number there.

sorta like how windows NT started on version 3.0.

ok i'm gonna walk over to the computer center and plunk down my $14 for office 2003 today.

I never had any problems with any of the outlooks MS released. Hey, there's always Hotmail 🙂

Word had ver 2.0 back in the 486-33 days.

I'll also recommend Office 2003, it's the first version of office that has loaded faster than the previous version.

OHHH!
I didn't realize you were complaining about 2000. That was the "current version" of Outlook 4 years ago! 😕
BTW, do you have all the SP's & updates installed?

OK, on third look, I understand the post. The wording was very confusing.

I remember using MS Works 1.04 on an IBM PS/2 Model 25 (286-16, 640K, MCGA screen, DOS 4.0, and two of the brand-new, really fancy 1.44 MB floppy drives). I miss that machine sometimes.

another happy 2003 user here. 🙂 XP and 2000 sucked. terribly slow and no better than Outlook ex in my opinion.

BTW, after upgrading, Office Update is your friend!!! You need it to keep Outlook's junk mail filter up to date (I think they release updates every few months or so...) But if ye be a pirate, avast ye! I heard Office Update doesn't work with pirated versions! 🙂

Well worth it. The Junk Filter in Outlook 2k3 is great.

that's what I was thinking. I wonder if he also has a "new car" from 2000?

I've been using Outlook 2003 for a couple of months now, and I really like it. It has alot of new features and options available. It also supports PST files over 2gig.

I agree right now I am currently using Outlook 2K3 and it is a vast improvement over Outlook 2000
