Is the confederate flag racist?

In and of itself no. However, it's usually sported by redneck hillbillies who yearn for the good ole days of slavery and killin' Yankees.

I don't think the flag itself is racist, but a lot of people fly it for that purpose. In the past I think it carried a more racist connotation, but now it is more of a symbol of southern pride.

I don't think it is. It is sometimes used by racists/racists groups as a symbol of racism, but so is Old Glory.

Yes because you know EXACTLY what they yearn for.

As a person who proudly displays his, I would say no. It is a symbol of pride. Just cause the people in P&N think we are all yankee hating, racist, podunk hicks, doesnt make us that. Hell, my favorite baseball team is the Yankees.

For most people it is just a part of history. And taking that away... well, we should not rewrite history.

Southern pride does not = racism. Racists do not = Southern pride.

No one should ever try to punish the masses because of the ideals of a few.

🙂

I think it is racist.I live in Ms.I think it is racist, you come live in a state where that trash is on your state flag.

I don't think it's necessarily racist, but a symbol of rebellion.

Edit: If people want to have it on their car, or in their homes, that's fine. That's their right to do so. But it shouldn't be in goverment or state buildings.

If I remember Correctly, the Cival war was not about the abolishment of slavery. The abolishment of slavery was the Proverbial straw that broke the camels back.

And white sheets are available in most stores that sell linen as well. Why don't we ban white linen and scissors while we are at it?

Considering I now live in MS, yep, that's exactly what I believe. Too many f^ckin' racists and plenty of rednecks who still talk about us Yankees like the war was last year or something.

Are all Southerners like that of course not but plenty are. I see it ALL THE DAMN TIME.

No more than the Nazi flag is antisemitic.

The swastika is actually an Indian symbol, that was bastardized by the Nazi party

American Indians, half of Europe, and at least other parts of Asia also used it. 😉

What? Because white linen and sheets arent racist until you put time and effort into turning them into racist implements.
Why do we have that sh!t on my state flag? Answer that. I will never tip my hat or pledge and oath to any flag with that on it.

Well, since the civil war wasn't about slavery or anything, I don't think it is. But, I think that decision is more of a personal one. Ask someone flying the flag why they display it.
