It's more like a person walking down the street with a trenchcoat and a sign that says "Pull this sash to see me nude".

While the knowledge that he's naked under there may annoy you, you have no obligation to pull the sash, and have little standing to complain about his nakedness after pulling it.

Almost. It's rather like the sign says "Pull this sash!". That seems more accurate to the topic at hand.
