Is the ATI tool max core/memory test reliable?

I just took the numbers it found and back off a few Mhz. Does this tool represent real play or will Doom 3 start to get artifacts?

ATiTool seems to be a bit conservative according to most people I've asked and my own experience. I can usually go 10-15 mhz above what ATiTool says is the max and have no problems...

lol, ati tool overclocks my card untill my computer locks up with artfacts but still detects "no" artifacts. I am just glad i didn't pay money for that program

This has been my experience also.
