is the abit vp6 picky when it comes to cpu stepping?

as i mentioned in my other vp6 thread i got this mint vp6 from a friend but she had a couple of p3 800s in there that were not matched

i know this due to the 2 degree diff temps from the bios, the diff fans speeds in the bios and the diff numbers on the stickers of the stock fans

the comp seems to run fine but will unmatched cpus affect stability on this vp6?

Generally mixed steppings are not recommended, but they do work.

Intel provides a mixed stepping SMP matrix in the specification update which tells you which steppings work together.

Usually SMP is fine if the processors are same Family and Model. Stepping is not as important as Family and Model.

dont worry about the 2° difference. i have two p3-S -1400's in my VP6, and cpu1 is 29°C while cpu2 is 31°C. a 2° difference just like you have....
