Umm, the AN8 Fatal1ty is good, but overpriced, but the vanilla AN8 lacks a few features like SATA II and a few other features which I can't recall right now.

I looked at the AN8 also.....one thing that made me go with the Asus...I don't believe the Abit AN8 is nForce4 Ultra.......I believe it's straight nForce 4. Just checked at newEgg too and the AN8 description says "nForce 4 chipset" while the A8N-E says "nForce 4 Ultra chipset". I may be wrong and it may be, but, this is the main thing that made my decsion......other than this though, I liked the Abit and have always had good luck with them.

The Asus has problems with the memory at 1T past 250 HTT I think it is? The Asus is more feature rich, but for the price might as well get the DFI LanParty Ultra-D.

Hmm, that's odd since mine is running right now at 260X10!;) LOL! No, #1, there was a new bios release that redied the board for Venice, and I never expiereinced the 250 limitation the Asus SLI boards had with the non-SLI A8N-E......

A lot of people were having problems with that. I guess that new BIOS you're talking about must have fixed it. Anyways, I'd still go for the DFI. The people that claim it died on them, probably were pushing it way too far or overvolting it or something. The board just doesn't die unless it has a defect, in which case a lot more people would be disatisfied.

First, the people were having problems with the SLI boards......not the non SLI. The bios for the non SLI A8N-E just made the board Venice/San Deigo compatible.

If you go to X System/DFI/HOCP you will find multiple threads on DFI boards failing......it could be that they were pushing them to hard, but the people claim not or at least several do, some admitt they did push them very hard.

It's really got to be your choice!:) I, nor anyone else can give you anything except our expiereinces and personal choice. They are both good boards I believe......I have both and like both.....I guess my thing now is everytime I'm on the DFI, I little cornor of my mind recalls all the threads I read and that bothers me inside. Heck, mine may never ever have a problem and my Asus could blow tomorrow! LOL! It's your call!:)

Have no expiereince with the MSI board......I've heard good and bad (as usual) on it. it looks like a nice board, but i really can't say for or against it.........I can say this much.......MSI used to have really bad Q/C and support.....but my God, that's been at least 2 years ago and they've probably cleared that up.

If you don't mind missing out on a few features, then by all means go with the Abit. They make great motherboards. Mine is rock stable, except for a few problems with the VIA chipset and the AGP/PCI locks not working right, but I got it working stable. Abit is great. If you have the money, the Fatal1ty would be better, but obviosuly, the vanilla one is cheaper. It got pretty high overclocks on a review I read of it. 300+ HTT.
