Is the 9800xt still being released tomorrow? nt

I heard Tuesday, but that may not be happening at this point due to the HL delay.

Good observation...what about ASUS's new line of cards?

I know ASUS let it out at Computex but that was a leak they clearly did not want.

I wouldn't count on seeing those cards until late October or early November at the earliest. ASUS has a LOT of nV product on the shelf right now that they have to move or take a loss on. Announcing a new card line from a different chipset manufacturer would kill sales of existing stock. Who wants to buy product that is being phased out? Remember when Best Buy had all those V5 cards sitting on the shelves? Not to mention the fact that ASUS still has all the hype about current nV products on their site.

Watch their website. When they stop hyping their nV line so much, then look for an anouncement.

The odds are, they'll bring the new line in just before HL2 is released. That would be the best marketing strategy.

i hope its realeased this week cause i wanna buy myself a radeon 9700 as a late birthday present (18th bday Oct 1) with my bday money, but i don't wanna pay over $200 for it.

They will probably release the first batch with a mail-in voucher for HL2, this way the card is not dependant upon the game's release...

It'll be announced on the 30th, but retail availability may come within 30 days afterwards.

I don't think the HL2 delay will affect the XT's release. ATi can always use the HL2 benchmark, which is definitely due for the 30th as well, to demonstrate performance. And vouchers are not unusual for video cards.
