is the 960T better than the 1045T? Overclocked

obviously not stock but it seems like the later 960Ts almost all unlock to 6 cores and overclock very nicely. It seems like the ones bought from the last few months are about 90+ % to unlock to 6 cores on a good mobo.

I've bought two in the last six months, and both only unlocked one extra core. Used both Asus and Gigabyte boards with same results on each CPU.

However, they do OC easily at standard voltage, and handle high NB OC with no sweat . . .

What's your budget.

If it's at least $600-800, you're better off with a i5 2500k or the ivy equivalent. 😉

If you're dead set on getting AMD, just slap yourself, and save more money till you can buy Intel.. the performance to price ratio is just not as high with the phenoms. Overclocked or otherwise. :colbert:

I had the same dilemma a couple of weeks ago but decided on the 1045T for the guaranteed 6 cores which was for me more important than an unlocked multiplier and a higher default frequency. Running my 1045T @ 3.8GHz @ 1.45V. In terms of voltage, not quite as good as some other 1045Ts here in the forums but I can't really complain. Will just have to tweak it better to have it stable at lower voltage. OCing using the FSB has been a pretty gratifying for experience for me.

Pentacores rock!
