is the 7900gt co an okay card?

CO is just overclocked. KO is overclocked with a different kind of cooler. That's...pretty much it...I think...

I know about most of the other cards.. trying to keep it under $200 bucks.. the ATI cards would make me buy a new PS.

I have the first version of the antec truepower 430. Its about 3 years old. Only one 12v rail rated at 20amps.

7900GT is an excellent card. it plays most of my games on their max settings with AA/AF.

That power supply should be able to handle an X1950 Pro or 256mb XT either of which will outperform a 7900GT ... in fact the X1950XT will run with & in many cases outperform a 7900GTX & can be purchased currently on Newegg for $249, the only real negatives to it is the cooler is a bit loud & it exceeds your budget.

Not to say the 7900GT is a bad card by any means, there are just better overall values available right now... if you absolutely have to stay under $200 then its about the best you'll be able to do.

Edit: A few X1950 Pros can be had for under $200, but only the Asus models don't have overheating problems reported.

The 7900gt is a rediculous OCer however. I ran mine for a long time on my antec tp430 @ 745/2000 with a zalman vf900 (1.55v gpu/2.2v mem). I'm currently using it in my main rig. I got rid of my 7900gto's (SLI sucks... for me anyway ) and I'm gonna sit on the money while I wait and see what happens with this whole 8800/r600/DX10 deal. The card plays Oblivion at a decent res with most settings at max (although AA does bog it down a bit). Especially if your using a smaller monitor for a while yet, you really shouldn't have much to worry about. Games like EVE-Online and WoW stay at 60fps 90% of the time (1280x1024).

I have a BFGOC 7900GT and I run it at 530/1600 with the retail cooler. The thing runs like a champ. Good enough for my needs.

If I were in your position, I would still get the x1950. Chances are that if you only use standard devices (nothing special, just a hard drive up to 2 disk drives, and you're not a hardcore overclocker, the card would function perfectly). You're not going to be saving any money opting for the 7900gt. Even if your psu isn't adequate, you are due for an upgrade and there are many 500 watt psus at $20 (ultra PSUs come to mind).
