What is the best way to do this permanently? And I don't mean a fanbus...
Should I take a completely unused line and chop the molex connector off and solder the wires then cover with electrical tape?

On the fan side of the molex connector, move the black ground wire so that it mates with the red 5v wire from the psu. Just bend the lock tabs on the pin "in" slightly so that the pin slides out easily, reset them before re-insertion. Use a very small screwdriver, pick or the point of a x-acto knife. Piece of cake.

Never alter the psu side of the plug. If you forget and re-configure the case and wiring, Bzzerrt-poof!

If you try to run too much stuff on 7v, the psu senses the oversupply on the 5v circuit and shuts down, theoretically, anyway....

waitaminute... then I pop the entire pins through and switch it so that instead of

RBBY
BR

it is

RBBY
B R

?
*note: my fan only has two wires on its connector, the Black and Red.

Like this:

psu-yellow-plug-red-fan (stays the same)
psu-black-plug-blank
psu-black-plug-blank
psu-red-plug-black-fan(fan black moved to here)

Don't know any more ways to say it.....
