Is the 60GB OCZ Vertex worth getting now?

Hey there, sorry for the noobish question, but I'm extremely uneducated when it comes to SSDs.

Basically, I got a trade offer for this SSD for about $200 (partly in cash, partly in parts)

Is the SSD worth getting? Is the trade price too high? I also heard that a new generation/controller is coming out, so should I just forego this SSD?

Thanks for the help :)

That price (even in trade and parts) is just too high, IMO. The prices on the Agility and Solid 2 (both OCZ Indilinx based) are approaching just over $2.20 per GB. The Vertex is a solid drive but the $200 is just too much (again, my opinion).

How much would you think I should go for then?

Is this a used SSD? If so, that's even worse, especially if you cannot get warranty service on it (not sure about that). If you want it, I would be looking at under $2.00 per GB in cash/parts. If it's "new" and you can get a warranty, maybe $2.30 to $2.50 per GB.

get the 80gb intel - its faster in real life. ocz only allows benchmarks of their 120gb which has twice the channels of the 60gb

OCZ may only allow or publish 120GB number, but they do not disallow the average user from benchmarking and posting the numbers on 60GB drives. There are lots of them posted in benchmark threads at the OCZ forums. (I agree that it's slower though as is the 40GB Intel vs 80GB Intel).

its deceiving to not let the reviewers post actual numbers. they are the trusted source.
