Is that a tumor on your ear?! Oh, it's just your Bluetooth headset.

Just wandering through a mall today, and I kept seeing people talking to no one in particular. On closer examination, I saw this weird, dark-colored growth coming off their ear...

At first, I was petrified, thinking the rumors of brain-eating parasite invasion were true, but then I came to my senses and saw that they were just Bluetooth headsets.

Then I got to thinking, who *really* needs those things anyway? I can understand in a car, or at work, but seriously, wearing one all the time A: makes you look just weird, B: freaks people out when you just start randomly talking to no one, C: makes you look just weird.

No offense to people who actually genuinely need to use them, but I would say 95% of people who have one don't really need one- it's like paying $50 for a T-shirt, it's an unnecessary expense...

And what's even scarier than one person, is when like a whole family has them on, or a whole group of friends- then it really does look like a brain-sucking parasite invasion.

Meh, it's convenient. If I had a job where I was talking on my phone all the time, even outside the office, I'm sure I'd wear it all the time too. As it is I only use mine in the car.

I've noticed that too. Seems to be an attempt at a fashion statement.

I don't care if it's a headset or a handset, I don't want to hear half your conversation ringing through a public space. The other day I was waiting in the doc's office reading a magazine and some broker type walks through the door yabbering loudly to some unseen conversant. Wanted to plant that headset somewhat deeper in his ear than the design specs call for.

Stfu and find a place to talk in private.

I also dispise cell phone use in public places. Like the last time I was flying the second the stewardess said people could use their phones about 5 people got on their phones and started talking. Like really, you can't wait the 5 minutes until you are off the plane to call your ride?

But yeah the bluetooth things are really obnoxious especially when people wear them all the time. My mom says there is a teacher at her work that wears one all the time. Like really, you aren't even supposed to be using a cell phone at school so why bother even wearing the headset?

I don't talk on the phone around other people cuz I don't like it...I don't even do it at home, but I don't understand why people get UPSET by it. I mean, if its a place where talking to someone else is discouraged, such as in a movie, I can understand, but why are you so offended by someone walking through public talking on the phone? Its no worse than talking to someone standing next to them.

There was a Dr Who episode where aliens used headsets to control people's brains and make them jump off buildings. No thanks.
