Man you people are paranoid. If Valve was going to sell Steam (which I might add is purely UNFOUNDED SPECULATION with no basis in fact at this point) the company that buys them isn't going to suddenly say: "Sorry we're taking away all of your games". How does it make any sense at all for them to suddenly not let you keep your games that you paid for? Right, it doesn't and it's not going to happen. Now pick yourselves up and tie your shoes cause there are far more important things in the world to worry about than something that hasn't happened yet and may never happen.
You are probably right. However, I was simply attempting to clarify my reponse to another poster who suggested that customers would have legal recourse if they found themselves out in the cold in the event of Valve selling or closing Steam down. As I have stated above, I am not trying to be a fear-monger; however, I also feel that it is wrong to state "you'll be fine, there is no need to worry" or express similar sentiments when we do not know that this is in fact the case. I would be extremely interested to hear from someone with the sufficient legal knowledge to explain the user's situation in the event of Steam being sold or closing down, but I'll stop requesting this if its making people feel uncomfortable.
As you say, this hypothetical situation is highly unlikely and probably deserves little thought. I just like to know what my rights are in any given situation.
