I fear this is the door that was opened with banning nRollo. Anyone who recommends a nV card over ATi is already hammered in the Video forum, and now people expect bans.

You're just trying to distract people from the fact that you are more than likely affiliated with NV and should suffer the same fate as Rollo.

I never thought my own prophecy would come true in the exact same thread I made it in.
It's not a matter of recommending NV over AMD. It's a matter of spreading false information, and blindly recommending one brand over the other dispite legitimate reasons not to.

BTW, how did you obtain your two 280GTX cards?

Wow......

If this keeps up, I hope they deal with it. Judging by the mod responses in this thread, I think they will.

Ocguy31, I'm sure that zero weight is put into what brand someone prefers when the mods are considering someone for a ban. I'm sure Rollo would have been banned whether he backed AMD, Nvidia, Intel, Via, etc. He was a 'used car salesman' and nothing more.

If you look at a lot of the threads that get derailed you'll see a couple of the same names over and over. I'll just leave it at that.

Of course all NVIDIA fans are paid. It's a wonder they stay in business with such a policy.

Please don't associate me with your own bad reputation. I only complain about your crap when it gets out of hand. I have nothing to do with the thread derailments in Video.

I never said any names, just that if the mods want to review some of the out of hand threads I think they'd see some common posters. I'm going to take the high road here. If you look at my posts in the Video and CPU forum I think you'll see I've always only tried to give informitive answers and provide forum users here with opinions when they ask for them. I try to do it with some resepect. I generally favor AMD products these days, but I've recommended Nvidia to people when Nvidia would better suite their needs. But, I'm going to leave it at that, I'm not taking your bait.

ORYLY?

Let's take a few choice quotes from the very thread we are discussing here.

Go fanboy go!
It's hard to know if his Nvidia fanboy-ism makes him that blind, or he's just trolling at this point.

If this is taking the "high road" giving "informative answers" and "respect" then I must be using a different dictionary than you.

Are you or are you not an Nvidia fanboy?

And my second statement was pretty much an honest rhetorical question... I'm not sure if some of the stuff you post you honestly believe due to your blind fanboyism or if you were trolling. What you said was utterly ridiculous. In this case you posted that an 850MHz chip with increased shader count and TMU's over the current RV770 would "probably be a good match against a 260+ which you can buy for under $199." Did you post that because you honestly beleive that a chip like that would just be able to compete against the GTX260 216, or were you just trolling there?

I am taking the high road. I'm not calling you names, I'm not getting nasty, I don't even think I'm putting a negitive tone in my replies. But if you post something that I feel needs explaining or I need to defend my position I will reply.

I don't see where I'm not showing you resect. You ARE an Nvidia fanboy. I'm not saying that negatively, I'm saying it because it's true. You certainly prefer Nvidia products and take every chance you get to push them in the Video foum.

I'd say my posts are much more informative then trying to tell someone that an 850MHz 1000 shader chip from AMD would compete against a GTX260. I've suggested to people that they go with an Nvidia solution when it better suites them. How many times have you suggested someone buy an AMD card over a competitive Nvidia card? My guess is not too often.

Interesting. Here is the article we are discussing....
AMD is slated to launch the Radeon HD4890 card, based on the RV790 core, in April. Earlier rumours that this card would be called the HD4970 appear to have been incorrect. The RV790XT A11 sample has a clockspeed of 850Mhz and a operating voltage of 1.3V. It will likely be paired with 975Mhz GDDR5 memory. By comparision, the current Radeon HD4870 (RV770) model runs at 750MHz core clock and 900MHz memory clock. Read more.... Update: We have just been informed by CJ that there will be 2 versions of the Radeon HD4890 - a standard edition and a OC edition. The standard edition will launch in mid April, with the OC Edition following shortly after by end of April. The Radeon HD 4890 OC Edition has 1GB of GDDR5 memory onboard and is expected to perform 25-30% faster than HD 4870. It is expected to be priced at USD299 at launch.

Please point out where it has 1000 shaders. I would so hate for "misinformation" to be spread.

Besides if it's my opinion that the new S3 video card will stomp a 4870X2 that's still my opinion and is no less valid than your opinions on the subject.

I can fully understand being a fan of something, it's hypocrites I truly find intolerable.

1000 shaders was the number I saw thrown around, some of us were talking about how AMD has redundant parts already built into the silicon. I don't know that'd it'd be exactly 1000 shaders. It would be an increased shader count if that was the case though. I said that here as that's the example I used in the thread and saw others use. So, we were talking about a chip that might have 1000 shaders and ran at 850Mhz. You pointed out how it might be a good competitor for the GTX260.

If it is your opinion that the new S3 is faster then the 4870x2, it is your opinion, you have a right to it, but I think it is less valid as it doesn't add up really. If I said that it's my opinion that I won't bleed if I ran my balls acrossed a running table saw, well, it's my opinion, I have a right to it, but it's kind of ridiculous to a lot of people.

That pretty much proves my case. Thank you.

I don't think so. I was speaking within the context of the thread that it was said in. No where have I told someone to not buy a GTX260 or 4870 because a 1000 shader card from AMD is coming... No where have I started a thread saying that AMD is making a 1000 shader GPU... That would be spreading misinformation. On the very first page of the 4890 thread someone mentions 1000 shaders. We discussed it hypothetically from there, you said that it would compete against a GTX260.

But I guess if you take it completely out of context you can say that I'm spreading misinformation. That's all that I see really happening here.
