Is Splinter Cell worth my $50?

OK, I've got $92.01 in MSN Dollars that I can spend. I get can Splinter Cell for PC for $50 at EBGames.

I've heard that it's a great game, but that it is too short with no replay value. To me, that would be $50 wasted no matter how good the graphics are. What are your thoughts?

Well in my opinion the game looks amazing. It's gotten great reviews and it's been said that the PC version is a tad better then the Xbox version. But the only knock against the game is the fact that once your done thats pretty much it. You can always replay the missions but it wouldn't be the same as when you first played the game.

Do you usually blow thru games? Because from what I've read the game is pretty difficult. This game would take me about 2-3 weeks to complete, because I take my time. Also.. we may see some free content heading our way. The Xbox version will be getting free content next month, but I haven't heard anything about the PC version.

As for buying it, that's a hard question to answer. If you blow through single player games then I would say wait till the price drops, but if you like to take your time with single player games then I would tell you to buy it.

That site looks like its for console games (I want the PC version). The only reason why I was going to get it from EBGames is b/c it would be free to me as I have $92.00 in MSN Dollars to use due to their Christmas promotion.

Just spent my MSN money. I had the full $100 ;)

I would rent it first though. I thought I would really like it, I rented it, played it for about 20 minutes and then didn't put it back in.

Nevermind, didn't notice you said PC version. Do you have an XBox? give it a try on there, or find someone who has it.

I agree with Matt, rent it if you have an Xbox. From what I understand, both games are identical.

I haven't owned a console since my Atari 7800 and I don't plan on owning one anytime soon.

You can download Splinter Cell demos for the PC and try it out. It comes with 3 missions which is about 6% of the game according to their website here: http://www.splintercell.com/us/pc-demo.php

The download is 180 MB, I would say try the PC demo first before purchasing.

I found the game fun but I wouldn't pay 50 dollars for any game.

This game has little replay value after you have beaten it. The storyline is only OK as well. If you are basing your decision of purchasing this title of replayability, then don't even bother.

However, if you want to play a linear, "stealthy" tactical game, then get this title! Seriously, the graphics are great (I have the Xbox version), and the missions do a lot of justice to the entire idea of stealth. I have spent many hours trying to get an area done "just right", so I know how frustrating the game can be. If you like stealthy games (ala MGS, MGS2, etc), you will enjoy this one.

If you want a heavy amount of replayability, then this may not be your cup of tea.
