Is Sony Crackle the worst designed streaming app ever?

I'm pretty sure it was designed by the CIA secret torture unit.

I just can't believe anybody would sign off with this mess.

It used to be okay, then recently Sony bought it and it went to crap.

it's a shame because it has some good original shows.

It's pretty bad.

The same commercials every 5 minutes while trying to watch something. Of course it cuts out to commercials during the worst times.

I was just trying to find one movie to play and browsing is like torture. It then starts playing a movie full screen in the background so I had to mute it. They seriously need to redesign it.

One thing I did learn is to create an account....it reduces the number of commercials.

Hadn't heard of it before today. Does it give access to shows others don't? And is it worse than CBS All Access was a while ago? I tried to use that crap but no show was worth that PITA software

Crackle sucks. Their app is awful for all the mentioned reasons, and the sheer volume of their commercials is overwhelming.

I watch Crackle from time to time due to being free, but I'm watching using the browser on my desktop not the app.

Tried it for about a day and canned it. Also tried hulu and CBS all access. In the end, went with Directtv now. It's ok, but we get all the channels the wife wanted from their mid-tier package. DTV Now app is kinda slow and clunky on the firestick, but I like how we can choose favorite channels and set the guide to only show favs vs. All channels. One weird thing is that when someone runs the microwave with and we're streaming on the app, the wifi cuts out. Doesn't do this with Netflix though.

This app is the worst. Sometimes I encounter this bug that just plays ads over and over again without going back to the movie. Also, if I use this app in a taxi, I encounter a bug that keeps resetting the video back to the beginning.

It's funny that this thread is from 2018. The OP doesn't realize how much better it was even two years ago.

I first used Crackle 6-7 years ago and it was quite good for a free app. Its gone slowly downhill since then; not just the annoying interface itself, but the content as well.

Back then Crackle always had some AAA movies to stream, whether it be the Aliens series, the Star Trek movies, The Lethal Weapon series, the Matrix movies etc. Now its almost all straight to video type crap. And yes, the way the commercials are staggered now is annoying as all %^&. It didn't used to be like that.

I haven't launched the app in a long time.

I don't use it a lot. However, it is the only streaming app that has the documentary Crumb (1994.) The app was so bad that I gave up watching it on Crackle. I was even ready to rent or buy this movie online. Sadly, Amazon Prime Video does not offer any option to rent or buy.

It would help if you understood that streaming is transmitting or receiving were not composed entirely out of data (usually video or audio) and spamming forums over a computer network!!!

fixed. o_O
