Hi,
Ok, this Gateway 9 cell high-capacity battery i purchased from Gateway about couple of months ago, and rarly used, has been providing wrong Power Remaining info to the OS (MS XP homs).
The reason why I know something is wrong is because, 1: the power indicator will show battery @ 100% for a good couple of hours before it swiftly goes down. THis was not the case when it battey was new. 2: after reinstalling the OS ( not pertaining to the battery), this is still the case. 3: the original 6 cell battery does not have this problem, the power remaining goes down accordingly.
It seems like the battery will stay at 100% until it mets the 6 cell capacity, then it will update the OS.
is this a sign that more problems will come?
Observed in Max Battery, and min power management mode.
I do not notice any usage downgrade, as in the battery provide less usage time compare to when it was new. It is just annoying.
Any ideas?
Gateway 4520 (320) 1.5 (1mg L2), 512 ram, Hitachi 40 gig 7200rpm hd, XP home SP2.
