Is something wrong with my GeForce 4 Ti 4600?

I just pulled out my Ti 500 and installed my new PNY Ti 4600. Before pulling out the Ti 500 I run 3DMark2001SE and my score was 7400 and change using default settings . I ran 3DMark2001SE again after installing the Ti 4600 and my score was 8800. This seems real low and I was expecting a lot higher score then this! I used the driver provided with the card (27.42). If this is all I'm going to get, I'm not sure it was worth the upgrade. I'm going to run 3DMark with a new set of drivers and see what happens. I'm hope it's just a driver issue. Anyway, I'll get back as soon as I've run the test. BTW, AA and all that good stuff was turned off.

Both scores seem low to me. I have a Gainward Ti200 and get about 8500 3dmarks.

So what do you think the problem is? Is it because I was stupid and bought a Dell instead of building my own computer from the ground up? I knew I shouldn't have bought this POS! This really stinks! Also, I still can't find any drivers?

Question for you on the PNY. Does it have VIVO or just Video Out? Also, how noisy/quiet is the HS/Fan? How would you compare the sound to the Ti500?

You can get drivers HERE

It has DVI, TV/S-Video Out, and VGA. I couldn't hear the fan on my Ti 500 and I can't hear it on this Ti 4600 if that helps.

the P4 1.7 isn't the fastest thing in the world, but it should be able to keep up with the card. The fact that its a DELL could be hurting you though.

<< Well, I guess I could always throw in a 2.0 Ghz Northwood and see what happens :) >>

That should perk things up! Also remember, you will see more of an improvement in higher res. You can also use FSAA and Anisotrpoic filtering with a much lower frame rate hit. Put the 3DMark away, play a REAL game with the res and detail turned up and enjoy the new card.

I think it's your processor. Running a 1.4ghz Athlon Tbird and a PNY GeForce4 Ti 4400. Got 8688 on the 27.42 drivers, nothing overclocked. Your 4600 should be way more than 112 points better than my 4400.

When I picked up this P4 I made sure it had a socket 478 so I could upgrade to the Northwood eventually. I think I'll be able to snag one cheap in about six months just in time for Unreal 2! I've learned my lesson and my next PC will be built from the ground up. Thanks for the info guys!

On my system...which still uses SDRAM...I get about 8100 marks in 2k1SE Pro. This is with my 8500....which cost me $140 :p

If you need drivers for an Nvidia card, go to nvidia.com!

Did you uninstall your old drivers before you swapped cards?

And just for the record, the 2770 drivers don't seem to be able to install themselves. I even tried tweaking the INF file to no avail.

Ok, question for you. Can you play ALL of your games at decent fps with 4XAA on your 8500?

There is nothing wrong with your Geforce 4 Ti 4600

you are just another one of those that have hopped on the "3D Mark" bandwagon......

It seems like that the only thing people care about these days are how high of a 3D Mark score they can get..

so, basically.. who gives a $%#^%..

you spend that much on a video card.. well.. then use it.. Play some games .. use it for what it is meant to be used for .. Dont justify a purchase based on some benchmark..

Enjoy your TI 4600

Why would you use FSAA when everything runs perfectly smooth at 1600x1200 everything maxed? Just curious.
