Is something wrong with me?

When you are talking to someone and they starting talking for a while, lets say they are explaining something, do you ever have "what if's" pop-up in your head? I do all the time.

For instance, this morning someone was explaining a problem to me and while they were talking I wondered to myself what would they do if I reached over and grabbed my hot cup of coffee and threw it on them. Not because they were annoying, just what if. Then I start to panic and will start to fidget with my wedding band.

Maybe I am going crazy...

I think you just have an over active imagination and trouble concentrating on things, but I wouldn't be worried until you actually do throw that coffee on someone.

i always had those "what ifs", but it was always starting with "30 ninjas break thru the drop cieling..." or "4 armed gunmen bust thru the door..."

you are not crazy...it is a conditional response to a common occurrence. we live in an overly stimulating society constantly bombarded with information... enjoy those moments of digression and entertain them only in your mind. you are not alone.

suggestion: write them down to look back on; write a screenplay so that others can align and not feel like they are the only ones. those that do not have them, i fear have been beaten down so much, they have become numb and are so entrenched in the banalities, that they autonomously kill any subversion of it.

I was a customer site and picked out the person I most wanted to punch. It was random, no reason. That and the girl I'd most like to f***. That had several reasons.

If you are serious and it's distressing you, it's called OCD. I had a really severe case of the "what ifs" a long time ago and I wouldn't leave the house for a while.
It was very distressing.

No you're fine. Well I'll say WE are both fine, cause I do it too. Sometimes it causes me to let out a little chuckle while they're talking (cause I just pictured them running around screaming with office scissors sticking out of their forehead)

I get like that sometimes. I say to myself, it sure would be nice to perform cunnilingus on you right now, and then I tune out whatever it is that they are talking about.

Dude, you forgot to add the best part to those scenarios... saving the fine damsel in distress!

"starting with" is the key there... 😉

Sometimes I walk past people at school and wonder what would happen if I were to push them in front of a bus. I sometimes even play out the situation in my head.

I'm sadistic...
