Is snowboarding that much harder than skiing?

Martin

I've been wanting to try skiing for a while, so this weekend some friends are going (their first time as well), but unfortunately the ski place doesn't have ski boots my size, only snowboarding boots.

So would it be very hard? Should I expect a lot of falling down?

no...just harder to initially learn. Once you've gotten it...I'd say it is easier to master than skiiing which can take years to get really good at.

You just need to learn how to stop in a safe and non-hurtful manner, then snowboarding isn't too bad.

It is amazing how tired you can get from just picking yourself up after repeated falls.

its easier. a half day lesson and you're ready for blues. by the end of the weekend you're familiar with the blacks. I snowboard because there is less chance to tear a ligament in my arms and legs. flat areas with deep powder are teh devil tho. watch your wrists and coccyx.

neither are hard, it relly depends on the person learning and the age, and adult learning is gonna find both hard, a kid both easy

if you have ever surfed or skateboarded Snowboarding will be cake to pick up

if you can do 1 the other is easy to learn

i learned to ski before i was 5, i found snowboarding a joke to learn, i prefer skiing

difficulty of slopes ... green (circle, i think) being easiest, blue square in the middle, and black diamonds are the hardest.

what you will have all over your body after a day of trying to learn either of them

whatever you do, don't bother with the bunny slopes after the instructor teaches you the basics of braking and picking yourself up. The snow is too hard due to so many people trying to learn on it. The best is to take an entry level slope and expand your skills.

Make sure you wear waterproof pants and decent waterproof ski gloves. You'll be spending a lot of time falling on to your ass and hands/wrists.

I know when i first learned the basics of snowboarding, I still fell down quite a bit. I will say thought do moguls on a snowboard is a little harder than doing moguls on skiis
