Is SLI any good yet for Gaming, using 8800GTX's

Have they ironed out all the bugs yet for SLI?

Are profiles coming thick and fast for games?

And how long do i have to wait for drivers for new games so SLI can work?

Pretty much standard questions about SLI as i don't know to much about it, i have tried to find as much info on the forums as possible, but there ain't much on SLIing 2x8800GTX's and how far SLI has improved (or not) and there are no websites that have benchmarked SLI cards recently or even explained if they are difficult to use or if they are bug ridden still or not.

So i ask you guys if SLI is something to go for for gaming?

I would avoid it at this point. It was working fine for GeForce 6 and 7-Series cards, even better than Crossfire, but GeForce 8-Series and Vista pretty much broke it.

QFT, Sli works fine though for every thing but 8 series for Vista.

Not a lot of good info out there...my 7800GTX's are running strong in SLI but I haven't heard much about the 8 series.

SLI with 8 series is perfect in XP. installing vista with SLI is like putting a ferrari engine in a saturn.

What about the Ultras in SLI, been told that they dont work too well together?

As the ones i wanted were the BFG OC2 or the EVGA ACS3 and none of them are in stock and i can get Ultras for around £30 more, so it aint too bad on prices.

i would just stick to plain GTXs. the performance increase from factory oc cards or ultra cards is completely negligible. its the same chip just slightly overclocked. unless you are running a 30 inch LCD chances are you will be cpu bottlenecked with 2 plain GTXs, nevermind 2 Ultras.
