I tried IRC w/ my nick recently, and people seemed afraid of me, like I was some kind of sicko. Should I change my nick?

I remember I went on a rampage with names seeing what would offend the most on IRC. ChristForSale seemed to be the one that did it. Even the people in the sex chatrooms were offended.
