is "scan" a common feature on car audio tuners?

On most radios you need to press and hold the up/down buttons to seek/scan to the next station.

or do you mean scan, as in listen to a station for 5 seconds, then the radio automatically continues up/down the dial to the next station?

Haved you tried pressing and holding the up or down button to see if the scan feature kicks in?

Either way, I find this useless unless I'm trying to find radio stations in a new city which isn't often.

yeah I tried but it only goes to the next station and stops. I have to stop pressing and press again to get to the next station.

I tried that but the seek buttons are one button on a pivot.

That is the most important feature to me.

The salesperson said, "oh yeah it has it, that's been standard for years"

Return it then.

Next time, never trust a salesperson (ESPECIALLY a Best Buy salesperson :Q) to do your research for you.

Why is it important?

By pressing the scan button you can listen to a few seconds of each tuned station...it goes to a stationfor a few seconds then goes to the next one in ascending or descending order.

I can't recall Best Buys policy for return of installed stereos...probably a restocking fee and they'll charge me for the installation that was supposedly free--$80 in parts!
