depends on the state/county you live in, where I live you can only give them away for free. but unless you're standing right outside the venue with a bunch of cops your usually ok.

by the way, what makes you think someone would pay to see an A's game?

Check your state laws. In MI it's illegal to sell tickets AT or ABOVE face value. You also cannot sell ANY tickets within 100 feet of the event location.

Well, scalping people is illegal, but you have the right to sell your tickets if you want. How much and through what channels you can sell them is on a state by state basis, and laws are changing each year.

You can list them on a website, like ebay, stubhub.com, ticketsnow.com

"As of 2/15/2004, the state of California does not regulate the resale of event tickets."

guess its ok. now i remember the official giants website has a place where you can buy tickets from season ticket holders, and they are way above face value. Sweet i might make 50 bucks tomorrow!

I am sure that tickets.lifetips.com know a bunch more about scalping than I do, but the law says:

It is a misdemeanor offense, unless you have the permission of the venue.

Which is why the various "ticket marketplaces" are allowed to operate on the baseball club's website.

Edit: reading it again, it is kind of ambiguous, do they mean this only applies if you are selling at the venue, or that the price must be > face value if selling at the venue? I suggest you try it!

"Needs written permission by owner or operator of property where events occurs; if sold on the grounds of the event; must be in excess of price printed on the ticket"

wierd they want you to sell them for more? If you have the ticket then they have already got their money so its not like its competition

Look at the actual California laws that the site refers to:
346. Any person who, without the written permission of the owner or
operator of the property on which an entertainment event is to be
held or is being held, sells a ticket of admission to the
entertainment event, which was obtained for the purpose of resale, at
any price which is in excess of the price that is printed or
endorsed upon the ticket, while on the grounds of or in the stadium,
arena, theater, or other place where an event for which admission
tickets are sold is to be held or is being held, is guilty of a
misdemeanor.

Says nothing about the resale at face value.

Well, assuming his info is correct (& I don't doubt it), check out Stubhub. I just got some nice tickets for a game next week here in NY.

Look for the A's games and see if you can find comparable seats for the tickets that you have, and you'll get an idea how much to ask for them. Since you got them for free, you can afford to lowball the selling price which should make it more likely that you'll be able to sell them - except, while typing this, if your tickets say "complimentary" or something akin to that, make sure that Stubhub will let you sell them.

Well, just saw your post after I posted mine. Since the game's tomorrow, you obviously can't sell them online...

If "upper level" in the A's stadium is a/k/a "nosebleed seats" - just give them away. :gift:

LOL

Oakland Colliseum seats like 60K and is built for football, it sucks so bad to watch ballgames anywhere but behind home plate or field level.

Oakland Colliseum=crap.
