Is Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 old tech akready?

I was looking today to find a nice tablet to buy, what I like were tablets both from samsung the one from the OP and an 8'' version also with a QHD screen and an Air Pad Air 2 but the last one is to expensive with acceptable storage option since it doesn't even have an SD slot not to mention it is too too locked down for me but the hardware is stellar but I'd say so is Samsung'. Both tablets from SM features an Exynos 5420 ththerein lies the problem because it is already old tech now that its succesor based on Exynos 7420. Are there any information where Exynos 7420 powered tablets are to be launched. From I understand battery life should only improve slightly because the biggest consumer of power in the tablet is the screen, still even 10-20% more battery life would be great. I really like those tablets but at the same time I don't want to buy technology that already has its succesor just in an another product I guess is if the time frame will of those now 14nm are easily more than I will pull the trigger.
ps. is there other tablet worth considering? Windows Surfuce 2 wo

I went to a few stores to psychically handle those tablets if price wasn't a concern I would get the surface 4 for sure, but it would be a purely consumption device and of all that additional performance would go to waste except in some niche caches like opening many programs which would take a bit less time, because unlike other tablets it doesn;t have a stupidly slow e-mmc, I'm glad that they are at least improving their storage gut I still think we need true SSD like Surface 3. I would get that tablet but for me it would basically a toy and that's too much to ask for a toy. I'm not saying it's inherently a toy many people can work ok it just fine. They I want to the apple store looking at air 3. Really how much cost weight and real estate would including it take. That's one problem with it. I asked the clerk how easy it is to root the new model because that's the first think I do on an apple phone/tablet, because I want to do it whatever please with my new hardware. If I want to download some app cutting out the middle men I should he able to do it. He said he has no idea what I'm talking about so I asked if he knew what a boot-loader is. Then I asked him how deep is the pipeline on the CPU and how many instruction it can retire in one clock.
They I told him to change his jobs because he is neither persuasive nor knowledge. And a liar why couldn't he just tell me that jailbraking is not approved by apple and he could't talk about it. Maybe I shouldn't vent on him but I've had a bad day














SSD could handle it, it would definitely need to be an SSD-PCI-E 4X solution an application a bit faster. Is there really no information on the release 16nm A57 tablet.
ps. I admit I just glossed over S6 review is that knew exynos really going to make a difference?

I wouldn't say the Tab S or Exynos 5420 is old per se - Heck even Snapdragon 800 is still a wonderful performer. But Android tablets are about to go through a major switch to 4:3 screen and 64-bit this year. Seeing the direction Samsung went with the S6, I expect their tablets will follow a similar path. (improved construction, 64-bit, 4GB RAM, UFS 2.0, improved AMOLED, etc. etc.) Especially a high-end one like Tab S.

Ironically, 4:3 ratio screen means lower pixel densities for this year compared to the usual 2560x1600 or 1920x1200. Further ironically, that means performance and battery life will go up at the cost of pixel density. Tablets can use some higher PPIs, IMO, but I do not think it will happen this year. (Except for the rumored iPad Pro @13" which might as well have a 4K screen)

And yes, the Exynos 7420 is kind of a big deal, even better than I previously thought, and is likely to remain the top performer throughout 2015 with no other 14nm SOC on the horizon.

Edit: Oh, wait. Are you considering Windows options as well?

Geekbench/GFXBench submissions suggest Galaxy Tab S 2 is going to be powered by Exynos 5433/7410 instead of Exynos 7420. It's the same processor used in some Galaxy Note 4 versions. It offers faster CPU performance than Snapdragon 810 and enough GPU grunt to power Touchwiz @ QHD (I heard first-gen Galaxy Tab S dropped frames in some animations). The hardware is 64-bit capable but it might or might not support 64-bit at launch due to software (that's up to Samsung). I did some extensive testing here. Galaxy Tab S 2 is probably launching @ June/July.

If you want a Windows tablet then you should probably consider the brand new Surface 3 or some used/discounted Surface 2/3 Pro. I wouldn't recommend Bay Trail tablets right now given that Cherry Trail is right around the corner.

Yes, but Surface 3 is a bit expensive.
