I went to Homedepot and saw this set for $199

Five Tool 18V Cordless Combo Kit

Model HP518MK2

Includes drill with bits, circular saw with carbide tipped blade and edge guide
Also includes blade wrench, reciprocating saw with 2 general purpose blades
"Tuff Sucker" Wet/Dry Vac with crevice tool and flashlight
2-18V batteries and 1-hour charger

This is on their webpage it also comes with a storage kit which doesnt look to bad.

They had a paper saying if u bought all this seperately it would by like 600 bucks. Thing is i dont know if this is the everyday price or really a 'sale' price.

Now my ques is ...are these ok or good quality? The only Ryobi stuff i own are garden tools.
I was thinking of getting it but i wasnt sure if they are worth it, seems like a good deal, besides i can stop borrowing my dads dewalt and craftsman stuff

:p

Its at least as good as Black & Decker IMHO. Its homeowner stuff along w/ Skill (tho Skill is even cheaper then those two).

Yes.
Excellent bang for the buck plus a lot is made in USA which might keep someone employeed.

It's not hilti or bosch but I'd say much better than blackndecker or anything at sears.

What the Evil1 said .

If you have $ to spend I would recommend a Milwaukee 0923-29 18 volt kit :D

Black & Decker is about as cheap as it gets. I'd say ryobi is typically better than B&D.

The top quality name brands are Porter Cable, Makita, and DeWalt, not neccesarily in that order. That's all I buy because I learned long ago that you'll end up being disappointed in cheap sh!t and will end up buying good stuff anyway. The way I see it, I save money by buying the good stuff that will last a long time vs. buying crap and being pissed because it's crappy or it breaking in a year or so.

IMHO , Milwaukee makes the finest cordless tools . I own many of them , including the new Lok Tor 18 volt Hammer Drill . We give it the stress test recently sticking a 2-9/16" self feed bit in and drilling some holes in an oak 4"x4" . This thing is bad !

Where does milwakee fall in terms of quality

milwakee makes good tools, up there w/bosch & porter cable, imho

Milwaukee also sell some Bosch tools as their own. Dad bought a new hammer drill and I commented on how much it resembles a Bosch tool. Sure enough, made in Germany.

I like makita, as far as the lighter stuff goes.

HD stuff maybe.. Milwaukee or DeWalt.

but since your talking battery tools, heavy duty isnt in the equation
battery tools are the debbil

Nutbucket , you are close , but no cigar . Milwaukee is owned by the same parent company as AEG , Atlas Copco . Bosch and Skil are under the same corporate umbrella. Milwaukee and AEG share many tools , albeit different colors.

I have a couple of "professional" Black and Decker series tools and they are good. Ryobi are pretty darn good though. I've always seen them as just below Bosch as far as quality and durability. Especially for the home owner renovator type user. If you think you'll need all those peices then hey, it's a good deal.

Theres nothing wrong with craftsman. Black & Decker is fine for the typical home user as well, but their stuff isn't nearly as good many other brands. Then again, you can't go out and buy a ~30 dollar DeWalt drill like you can with B&D.

That kit is OK quality. If you just need to cut a board or two or put in a couple of screws, it will serve the purpose. If you plan on doing any extensive work don't buy it.

Ad they are right about 600 dollars. There is a 18V dewalt kit right now at costco which includes flash light, sawzaw, drill, jigsaw, circsaw which is over $650... Sounds like an excellent deal IMO.

My Ryobi weed whacker has been going strong for several years now. Plus, there's a rumor out and about that Ryobi makes the cordless drills for Craftsman.

[Edit]: I guess I missed the post a few above mine:
FWIW , most all of Sears current cordless tools are made by Ryobi .

Carbonyl , that may be correct about Bosch . But it is also about the same thing that happened with Milwaukee several years ago before the aquisition by Atlas Copco . I forget now who owned Milwaukee previously , but it was a religous type organization . There was a saying from Milwaukee(during the era) for a while making light of Ms. Makita , the Makita pin up girl , " we sell tools , not tits" .
