Is redhat 7.0 worth a crap?

A local store has Redhat 7.0 for $8.88, I was thinking this would be a good deal for my first shot at Linux. I know I can d/l it for free, but for my first install I was thinking a manual and tech support would be good.

I don't know if this was ever mentioned, but whenever Staples gets a new version on Redhat, they are supposed to take the old version off the shelves. When a new version comes out, the product stays in the database, marked as to be discontinued, and then the price is lowered to $0.01. Thats right, one cent. Sometimes, stores forget to take it off the shelves too, so they have the new and the old version out on the shelves.

Ok, to answer your question, I found it fairly easy to install once I cleared off some partitions. Doing things with it other than that was something else. If you can pick it up and just want to play around, have at it. Its a great OS.

It is ok, but you have to update glibc to the newest version, there are problems with the version it comes with.

Acuatlly buying a good Linux Book and RedHat 7.2 basic cd's at either http://www.linuxcentral.com or at http://www.Cheapbytes.com would be the way to go. Learing and expermenting with Linux as you read and is a better then relaying on tech support to solve your problems. Hell newsgroups and these forums could serve as your tech support as well if you so needed them in any case.
