I am about 15 for 15 getting rebates back ranging from 5 to 100 dollars. So no I don't think they are a scam. The whole point in them is because MANY people simply fail to send the stupid things in.

I recieved the check for every rebate I've filed for. That being said, my record time was a $50 rebate from Best buy on a panasonic cordless phone. Bought the phone my sophomore year, didn't recieve the check until right before graduation of my senior year. I've already forgotten about it. If they sent out that rebate just two months later, I would have never gotten it.

On average, it takes the company about twice as long as the advertised time to recieve the check. I guess they're hoping that you've forgotten about it and throw it away as junk mail or you might've moved.

A lot of times, the consumer is stupid and don't fill out the forms correctly or include the wrong proofs of purchase. People can't blame the company for their own stupidity.

The point of rebate is to see how many would buy if it was cheaper, but doesn't neccesarily mean that they are selling to you at that price. They are way of promoting sales. What really irks me is the false advertisement of say 19.99 then when you look closely it says 29.99 rebate so you paid 49.99+taxes up front. Not knowing how this scam works every clueless shopper gets bought and conned into this only to realize later " WTF is my rebate" they could make excuses like "we didn't get your rebate, you didn't include the right upc code, etc." maybe it could also get lost in the mail too which happens occasionally so many ways for them to keep the money and not send your refunds back. I'm sure some people do get it to keep the scam alive!~and few that make serious complaints against them and have proof is more likely to have them sent it but is it worth all these much hassle?
how it's feel to have someone keep your money, promising to give back only to not do so at a later time?
or is it more like, up to them whether to honor it or not? hmm gee I wonder how many folks are clueless about this pyramid scheme.

btw, just because you get your rebates a few time doesn't mean that it isn't a scam, you have just been lucky or is used as a guinea pigs to help bring in the rest of the herds into their game.
Now once they do have everyone invested in it, its time for them to plunder the huge sum of money by making excuses such as bankrupt. buhahahaha.
How the Fvck can they go bankrupt when so many people have given them money in the first place promising to give back, gee I wonder.. go ask someone like Einstein and maybe you'll get somewhere.

I hate rebates, but since i have gotten every single one i sent in (except for the first one i ever did; i messed it up, so it was my fault), i sure can't say they are a scam.
