Is raid0 worth it?

I have a 320gb sata WD. I was thinking about buying another one while they are $134 and striping them? Is the speed that much faster? I don't need the space. So, is the speed alone worth justifying the cost?

I'd think your money would be better spent on a 74Gb Raptor for your system drive and use the 320 for data storage.

very true
Using the Raptor as your OS drive would yield at least observable gain in speed, compared to RAID0

Depending on your usage, a Raptor is not going to yield any noticeable performance gains. Right now unless you need some of the intangibles SATA is overkill bandwidth wise. Just keep that WD defragged. I'd bump up the RAM another 512.

What's the rest of your specs? We may be able to allocate that $ in a better way.

Brand new machine.

A64 3700+ San Diego
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
NVidia 7800GTX (Still can't believe my wife let me buy it)
2GB Corsair Value
320GB WD SATA
120GB WD PATA
NEC 16X DVD-RW

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll spend my money on something else.
