is quality of dvi pretty much same throughout?

i.e. a 8meg ati card dvi will pretty much be same as geforce2ultra will be same as something higher? Or are the algorithms or whatever : P different...like ati cards are supposed to produce better picture than nvidia...

I went from a 5200 FX dvi to a 9800 Pro dvi and the improvements are minimal.

DVI is just a means of getting the signal from the video card to the display. The chips still need render a good image, and that's the difference you'll see.
