is PS too weak?

I decided to post in this forum too for this topic. My bro's PS just got burned out for his p4 mobo. we swapped in an old 300W ps that doesn't have the extra 4pin PS connector. The computer posts but freezes soon after. I'm guessing there isn't enough juice from that PS to support the mobo and cpu. Can anyone confirm with me on this matter? any help is much appreciated, and anand forums have the smartest guys around so I know someone can give me an answer, thanks.

Answer: yeah, probably you need your auxiliary ATX12V to the mobo. They don't put that receptacle on there just for fun.
