BAD customer service, lower build qualiy.
leadtek, bfg(lifetime warranty, stock oc) are great
asus, msi, evga, are good
pny, is bad

The reason people have PNY cards are because sometimes they are price 20-30 bucks cheaper. Crappy customer service and low quality components are the reason for the cheapness, people don't understand that.

I've also seen a lot of people with malfunctioning PNY cards and then have to deal with really crappy customer service.

I think the build quality of the cards is ok. I'd avoid them anyways though...if for no other reason than that lifetime warranty bs they were pulling in the past--lifetime warranty valid only for the lifetime of the product line.

I hear a lot of complaints about image quality on some PNY cards, and I remember very well the time when the PNY 6800NU was selling for $200 on Black Friday. People were opening theirs up to find caps floating around in their box.

I personally only use eVGA and Gainward, but I'd get a BFG or Leadtek if the time was right. Nothing else.

I've really had no problems with my PNY 6800GT - I bought it last July because it was a great price ($337). With that said, I've read all the stories here about problems with PNY, short warranties, etc. - so my next purchase will likely be eVGA or BFG or one of the similar "good" brands. (Assuming I buy a next-gen Nvidia card instead of ATI) :p

I've heard PNY cards tend to OC well. My 6800 GT reached 442/1150 totally stable. I've heard many other smilar oc #'s and higher even. I like the fact that they keep cost down by not including a bunch of stuff you either allready have or don't need. Their warranty is now 3 yrs instaed of "life time". As far as service, I have no experience because my card has been problem free. How could their quality be so bad if their cards are all reference?.........

I am thinking to buy the Leadtek 6200 from PCSupplySource.com, anyone knows if this is a good store and if the product they sell are brand new factory sealed. Or they usually send out refurblished items? Thanks!

Good god, caps falling off...this is waay bad.

I'd add Gainward and Elsa to the good list.

Wow I just bought the PNY card after reading the video buyers guide from our very own AT. The PNY is selling for $335, the cheapest of any brand. I purchased it yesterday. I may cancel. I searched for reviews for this card and they were all positive.

After reading these reviews, the PNY cards can't be all bad. In fact the reviewers were able to overclock their cards to ultra speeds. If PNY is a bad idea, does anyone know of a good (sub $400) alternative that has good overclocking potential?

I've purchased several PNY cards over the years and had no problems.

Gainward doesn't even sell cards in the US anymore, BTW.

I've seen some PNY cards last for years, but they generally have a cheap feel to them. That being said, I've had issues with other brands... I once got a Gainward Golden Sample FX 5900 that was DOA and a Visiontek (now defunct) GeForce3 Ti with caps floating around in the static bag. I won't buy any nVidia card brand that compusa sells without getting the TAP replacement guarantee.

IMO, built by ATi cards have some of the finest build quality around. ATi cards always feel solid. A friend of mine got an X800 XT AIW, and it weighs a ton and has a quality feel to it. However, the driver issues he has had scared me away from that sub $400 X800 XT AIW on newegg.

the reason why I want to get from the PC Supply Source is they are $15 cheaper than Newegg since they don't charge me shipping and tax to CA! If they are good then I will order from them.

Anyone knows what's the Leadtek RMA or warrantee policy? If I receive the card and caps fell off, can I get a replacement? Also is the life warrantee valid for only the life of the product line. So if one day the 6200 of Leadtek phase out then I am stuck with my old card? Thanks!

I am going to go ahead and cancel my PNY 6800gt order from here Link.

I am ordering the Leadtek from here Link.

The leadtek has a huge HSF and will probably save me from buying the NV Silencer anyway. So it about evens out. At $415, I couldn't see the justification of paying $45.00 more for the BFG.
