Is PC1600 better than PC133?

Thinking of upgrading my mobo,I have an Athlon 1.1ghz 200 fsb.Just wondering if it would be worth while to get DDR or real good PC133?

I agree.

But to answer your question: PC1600 has worse latency than good PC133! That's just due to its base clock speed (100mhz), but it has significantly higher bandwidth.

Agreed, if you are going to change to DDR then PC2100 or PC2400 are the way to go. If you are sticking with SDR SDRAM, then you should get good PC133 or "PC150".

Processor compatiblity is not the issue, the issue is Mobo compatibility. A lot of motherboards can give 100 MHz FSB (double pumped) to the processor while giving 133 MHz FSB (double pumped for the PC2100) to the RAM.
